Janet Jackson’s Baby Plans Catch Her by Surprise

Janet Jackson is so busy prepping for her upcoming Rock With U World Tour, she must have forgotten her plan to have a baby with longtime boyfriend Jermaine Dupri following said tour. Or maybe she was never clued in to the pregnancy plot?

“So, Jermaine…said that you guys may be ready for baby. Is that true?” Ryan Seacrest probed this morning on his KIIS-FM morning show.

A stunned-sounding Janet replied, “When did he say that?”

Unraveling the big secret even more…

Ryan told Janet that when asked by People magazine this weekend, “Are you imminently ready for baby?” Jackson’s potential baby daddy said, “Yeah, soon. Right after the tour.”

“I guess he is,” Janet acknowledged, laughing.

No word on whether Janet is agreeing to take part in these rumored baby-making plans, but we have a feeling her man is going to be getting an earful tonight—and not the kind that involves hip-hop beats.

Celine Can’t Take Cover From “Sacrilegious” Tune

For those about to rock, best not to take any cues from Celine Dion.

The Canadian chanteuse’s easy-listening rendition of AC/DC’s “You Shook Me All Night Long” earned the otherwise lauded balladeer the ignominious honor of being voted the worst cover song of all time by a panel of experts at Total Guitar magazine.

While she only sang the apparently appalling tune once, a whopping six years ago, it was seemingly one time too many for the mag’s connoisseurs.

“Cover versions have never been bigger but the number one worst song—Celine Dion covering AC/DC—is sacrilege,” grouses Total Guitar editor Stephen Lawson.

Dion never released the track, dubbed an “offense” against music by the magazine, following her onstage duet with Anastacia during VH1’s Divas Las Vegas concert in 2002. One-hit wonder Meredith “I’m a Bitch” Brooks accompanied the duo on guitar.

As Total Guitar is a U.K. publication, the remainder of the worst-of-the-worst roundup was unsurprisingly populated by British pop acts trying their hand at rock classics, including a Sugababes and Girls Aloud duet of “Walk This Way” and inaugural Pop Idol winner Will Young’s version of “Light My Fire.”

The magazine also released a best cover song roundup.

Jimi Hendrix’s take on “All Along the Watchtower” came out on top, followed by the Beatles’ “Twist and Shout,” Guns N’ Roses’ “Live and Let Die” and Nirvana’s “The Man Who Sold the World.”

Tops the woman who deafened it every time.

Nate Dogg to the Pound!

Nate Dogg’s being accused of making like a pit bull.

The Prodigal Son rapper was busted this morning in Los Angeles for threatening to deep-six his estranged wife, the California Highway Patrol confirms.

A CHP spokesman tells E! News that police received a 911 call from the Dogg’s spouse claiming the 38-year-old emcee (real name: Nathaniel Hale) had threatened to kill her and was chasing her in his car northbound on Interstate 405.

“Officers moved to intercept and stopped both the victim and Mr. Hale,” the CHP rep said. “Subsequent investigations supported her statement and fears.” The agency did not identify Dogg’s missus by name.

The rapper was taken into custody around 8:30 and booked at the L.A. County Medical Ward of the Twin Towers jail on one count of making terrorist threats and another for driving with a suspended license.

No word what he was being treated for, but once he’s given the all-clear by doctors, Dogg will be transferred to the general inmate population in the main facility.

The Grammy-nominated hip-hopster was sentenced to probation in March for attacking an ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend two years ago.

Last December, he suffered a stroke that left him partially paralyzed on the left side of his body. However, doctors predicted that Dogg would make a full recovery. The MC is best known for his collaborations with such rap artists as Eminem, Ludacris and his cousin, Snoop Dogg.

Rihanna: Chris’ Mom Approves!

Rihanna’s got mom’s seal of approval.

The hitmaking beauty made a trip to GBK Productions’ Fire & Ice gifting lounge for the BET Awards over the weekend with her boyfriend, fellow music hotshot Chris Brown and his mom, Joyce Hawkins.

Hawkins, according to a source, was overheard cooing, “Rihanna is the sexiest and sweetest girl Chris has ever dated.”

And for once, the superprivate lovebirds weren’t so private during their hour-or-so-long visit to the lounge. “They came through holding hands and kissing each other on the neck,” says the source.

Both Rihanna and Brown also took home their own $5,000 gold watches from Croton, Grace hats, handblown glass art from Robert Kaindl and iPod cases from Guilty Couture. Rihanna also grabbed three pairs of Australia Love Collective boots, including the Vixen, the Nomad and the Party Nomad and helped Brown pick out a couple of pairs of New Balance running shoes.

Sounds like a good day was had by all.

Cameron and Paul’s PDA-Filled Sunday

Cameron Diaz and model Paul Sculfor still seem to be going strong.

While their exes John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston are reportedly in London together, Cam and Paul had a cozy, PDA-filled Sunday here in Hollywood and thoughtfully provided plenty of photographic proof.

The twosome had dinner before shopping at American Rag, with plenty of canoodling and kissing in front of the cameras in between.

So is this just a summer fling for Cam, or will the lovebirds have no problem sucking face long past Labor Day?

Bad Karma? Boy George Banned in the USA

Call it tit for tat: Fresh off of the U.K.’s denial of entry to Martha Stewart, the U.S. has banned Boy George from its shores.

Somehow, it doesn’t quite feel like a fair trade.

The “Karma Chameleon” purveyor has been refused a visa for the U.S. leg of his summer tour, which was to include a special performance for his former colleagues at New York’s Department of Sanitation, over complications arising from the singer’s criminal past and pending his London trial this November.

If they really wanted to hurt him, it’s a job well done.

George’s rep said the singer was “devastated” he would not be able to play in the States for what would have been the first time in a decade, but that his legal team is working hard to get clearance for the ’80s icon to convince officials for a do-over decision.

“George is astounded at the decision and is having lawyers here in the States look at it in the hope that someone will change their mind,” the singer’s management said in a statement. “George has not been convicted of anything in London and there is a presumption in the Western World of innocence until proven guilty.”

The singer, whose full name is George O’Dowd, pleaded not guilty in February to falsely imprisoning a male escort, who claims the star chained him to a wall in the singer’s London apartment. He was released on bail pending this fall’s trial.

“He is clearly not considered any form of risk,” his management said. “George really would love to come to America and repay his American fans’ loyalty, and that is why we are asking the U.S. authorities to reconsider their decision.”

Legendary Comedian George Carlin Dies at 71

George Carlin, the edgy comedian and counterculture icon, died Sunday at the age of 71.

The stand-up comic and author – best known for his groundbreaking routine “Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television” – reportedly died of heart failure at Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica. (Carlin, who was open about his long struggle with drugs and alcohol, had a history of heart problems, including a previous heart attack.)

In 1978, the bearded comedian famous for his clever wordplay and often-explicit commentary on sex, drugs and the absurdities of modern life found himself in the middle of a court battle that went all the way to the Supreme Court.

But even after the high court ruled that his “Seven Words” routine was indecent, Carlin refused to abandon the material. (He was arrested several times after performing the bit live, although the cases were always dismissed.)

The author of 1997’s bestselling Brain Droppings, Carlin remained active on the stand-up circuit. Just last weekend, he performed The Orleans in Las Vegas, the New York Times reports.

In November, the Grammy-winner was scheduled to receive the John F. Kennedy Center’s coveted Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

He is survived by his wife, Sally Wade, and daughter, Kelly Carlin McCall. Carlin’s first wife, Brenda Hosbrook, died in 1997.

A fierce critic of modern civilization, Carlin told Playboy in 2005 that his vision of the afterlife included a “heavenly CNN.”

“The world is a big theater-in-the round as far as I’m concerned, and I’d love to watch it spin itself into oblivion,” he told the magazine. “Tune in and watch the human adventure …. That’s what I want heaven to be.”

Dad: Amy Winehouse in Early Stages of Emphysema

Amy Winehouse, who has been hospitalized and undergoing tests after collapsing, is suffering the early stages of emphysema, her father says.

“With smoking the crack cocaine and the cigarettes her lungs are all gunked up,” Mitch Winehouse tells the Sunday Mirror in the U.K. “There are nodules around the chest and dark marks. She’s got 70 percent lung capacity.”

The troubled 24-year-old singer was rushed to the hospital June 16 after fainting in her London home. Tests so far have ruled out tuberculosis, but her father says his daughter has serious health problems.

“When we got to the hospital a room was ready,” Mitch Winehouse tells the newspaper. “Several doctors came in and checked to make sure she didn’t need any emergency treatment. They put her on a drip straight away because she was dehydrated. She said, ‘Don’t worry about me, dad. I know I’ve got to stop taking drugs now.’”

Winehouse had been awake for 48 hours before going to the hospital, her father says. After she was admitted, she “curled up in bed” and slept for three straight days, he says.

“She’s got emphysema,” he says. “It’s in its early stages, but had it gone on for another month they painted a very vivid picture of her sitting there like an old person with a mask on her face struggling to breathe.”
