She will soon hit screens as a dowdy and drab social worker in indie flick Precious – but in real life, Mariah Carey remains a dedicated follower of glamour.

The 40-year-old singer and actress attended a photocall for the film in Cannes today, dressed in a luminous white and gold strappy frock.

But it’s little wonder she looked so stunning, considering the amount of luggage she brought to France for the prestigious film festival.

With her honey-coloured hair in loose curls, and sporting some spectacular bling on her fingers and earlobes, Mariah posed with co-star Lenny Kravitz.

And it seems the 38-year-old will not be short of presents on the 25th, although some of them may not fit under the tree.

Last month Carey’s husband Nick Cannon reportedly bought her a 5 bedroom luxury ski chalet in the glamorous location as an early Christmas gift.

‘He doesn’t want her to go to the hassle of renting. He knows Aspen is one of her most favorite places in the world so this is his early Christmas present to her,’ a source is quoted as telling the Mirror.

Not content with this grand gesture, 27-year-old Cannon is said to have bought a diamond ring to be placed into each of the bedrooms.

A few days later, Carey got her wish – a kidnapping – and a second proposal.

“He sort of kidnapped me and took me on a helicopter ride,” she says. “Then he re-proposed.”

“Elizabeth Arden has been a fantastic partner and the end creation of Luscious Pink is beyond my expectations,” the “One Sweet Day” singer continued. “The response from my fans with my debut scent was overwhelming, and I can’t wait to see what happens with my second Luscious fragrance.”

Luscious Pink, which is being touted as a “floral melody that is as enveloping as Mariah’s voice,” will join Carey’s first scent, M, in department stores nationwide in August.
