Britain’s Got Talent’s topless dancer sparks dozens of complaints

A burlesque dancer who stripped on ITV1’s Britain’s Got Talent has provoked dozens of complaints.

One of Fabia Cerra’s nipple tassles fell off during the performance, forcing the broadcaster to digitally cover her breasts with Union Jack flags.

Viewers were alarmed that the raunchy antics of the Size 20 dancer in a basque and red stockings – and little else – were unsuitable for family viewing.

Entertaining: Piers Morgan, Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell show their appreciation for Fabia

Mr Cowell admitted he had to consider whether such a revealing performance would be appropriate for the Royal Variety Show later this year, but the panel ultimately decided to put Miss Cerra through to the next round.

Fellow judge Piers Morgan added: ‘You are my kind of woman. If I had my way, you would be in the final right now.’

Fabia has said: ‘I don’t want the money or fame. I just want to appear in front of Her Majesty. I hope she’s not shocked by me.’

Ofcom is now assessing the complaints to see if an investigation is warranted.

An average of 10.3million viewers tuned in to watch the two-hour opening show, representing an increase of 17 per cent on last year’s debut.

The show trounced its rather more glamorous Saturday night rival, Doctor Who, which drew 8.7million at its peak.

ITV has also received 23 complaints about Sunday night’s episode of Coronation Street, in which Ken Barlow accused the Christian faith of targeting ‘ vulnerable people’. Viewers said the comments were ‘completely unacceptable’.
