With his son battling cancer it is no surprise veteran actor Kirk Douglas is making a point of being in New York with son Michael.
Strolling with his wife Anne, the 93-year-old appears to have abandoned his Los Angeles home temporarily to be closer to the Wall Street actor.
The star announced in August he is suffering throat cancer and currently undergoing chemotherapy, which he has reported is shrinking the tumours.
Douglas has tried to maintain his family’s routine despite receiving exhausting medication to treat the disease.
Despite looking noticeably frailer and tired, the star has made a point of continuing to walk his seven-year-old daughter Carys to school in the morning.
Both he and his wife, actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, have been candid with their two children about their father’s illness since he was diagnosed.
Speaking of Carys and ten-year-old Dylan’s reaction to his cancer, Douglas said to USA Today: ‘The kids, yeah, they’ve been fine.
‘I’ve taken them down to the hospital and shown them the whole radiology thing. They’ve watched me actually get zapped.’
Meanwhile, Zeta-Jones looked anxious running errands in New York.
But despite the testing time she is going through, the 40-year-old Oscar winner refused to dress in drab clothes.
Instead, she opted for a festive orange, patterned sweater and matching trainers to do a bit of shopping in the city.
