David Beckham celebrates Thanksgiving… by treating himself to a new Bentley

With a BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Porsche and Hummer in the garage, even the most dedicated of motor lovers might feel satisfied.

But not David Beckham.

The footballer unveiled the latest car in his collection yesterday – a silver Bentley.

As a Thanksgiving treat it certainly beats pumpkin pie.

But compared to wife Victoria’s $1.5million collection of Birkin handbags – all virtually identical – it perhaps doesn’t seem so wasteful. Read the rest of this entry »

He has the youth vote! David Beckham teams up with some young charges Monday at Wembley Stadium in London to promote England’s bid to host the 2018 World Cup. “To be part of a successful bid, like I was with the Olympics, would be a huge honor,” the footballer told reporters.

Beckham is transformed into the Terminator

Man or machine? David Beckham in an advert for the new Motorola AURA, which will cost £1,400

He has tried the Indiana Jones look and once dressed up as a Roman gladiator.

He has even impersonated a dragon-slaying prince in a fairytale-themed shoot for one of his many advertising campaigns.

Now David Beckham had added an equally bizarre look to his repertoire.

The former England football captain has stripped down for a futuristic photoshoot that appears to owe its inspiration to the Terminator films.

In a rapid departure from his usual, more wholesome look, the star is pictured frowning at the camera with part of his face torn away.

Images of his skeleton have been superimposed upon his naked chest while one of his eyes has been replaced by a red laser.

The edgy shot is part of the latest advertising campaign for mobile phone giant Motorola. The company is launching the new Aura phone, which at £1,400, doesn’t come cheap.

But it will certainly want to recoup some of the money it spent recruiting the star to be the face of its global marketing campaign in a multi-million pound deal three years ago. Read the rest of this entry »

Denzel Washington and David Beckham

Denzel Washington and David Beckham share laughs courtside Tuesday at the Los Angeles Lakers opening-night game in L.A. The friendly pair watched the Lakers trump the Portland Trail Blazers, 96-76.

Beckham: Most Hated Celeb Accent

David Beckham’s Cockney twang is Britain’s most hated celebrity accent, a survey says.

Only slightly less disliked are Gordon Brown’s brogue and Coleen Rooney’s Liverpudlian lilt.

Singer Lilly Allen joined fellow Londoners like Amy Winehouse in the blacklist, along with Charlotte Church’s Welsh accent, Ozzy Osbourne’s Birmingham twang and Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles’ Leeds accent.

However, it was better news for the north-east, according to the 3,000-strong poll commissioned by hotel chain Travelodge.

The Geordie accents of pop singer Cheryl Cole and TV presenters Ant and Dec headed the poll for the nation’s favourite celebrity accents.

Other popular regional accents included Bolton comic Peter Kay, Northern Irish actor James Nesbitt and Fife-born presenter Edith Bowman. Read the rest of this entry »

David Beckham Plays Soccer

It’s been over a year since he moved his entire family from the UK to Los Angeles, California. And yesterday David Beckham was back in Mother England taking care of business.

The LA Galaxy stud was spotted warming up with his Team England teammates in preparation for their forthcoming friendly match against the Czech Republic. And David looked rather comfortable to be back on the English pitch.

Becks also tended to his social responsibility duties with a press conference at the Grove Hotel, along with the Home Secretary and Police Deputy Assistant Commissioner, to announce the initiation of a new anti-knife campaign.

As for the recent advertisements featuring the English soccer star in his undies, David told FOX Pop Tarts’ Hollie McKay that his wife Victoria approves. “She is totally fine with it — we laughed. It’s a great campaign and I’m very honored to be part of it.”

He also said that while their home is back in the UK, they’ve grown to love the USA. “We love England—it is where we are both from and our families are from, but we’re very happy here and things are going so well. We’re enjoying it and everyone has been so great to us. We are really happy here.”

Move over Posh & Becks! There’s a new soccer star in LA as Ronaldo hobbles down the red carpet

There’s a new soccer star in town, and he’s certainly making his presence felt.

They’ve both worn the number 7 shirt for Manchester United, and now soccer aces David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo both vied for attention on the red carpet at the ESPY sports awards ceremony at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

Flanked by friends wearing sunglasses, and dressed in an expensive-looking cream suit, shiny-haired Ronaldo looked more than ready for his close-up – despite being on crutches.

Both players were nominated for awards, Ronaldo for Best International Athlete, and Beckham for Best Major League Soccer Player, but it was Beckham, 34, who took home the gong, with Ronaldo leaving empty-handed.

…and Cristiano Ronaldo arrived to have his moment in the Hollywood spotlight

Beckham, fast becoming the elder statesman of football, looked rather sober in comparison to Ronaldo’s high-wattage appearance.

And amazingly the presence of the two football stars managed to overshadow Beckham’s wife Posh, despite the fact that she wore a tight pale yellow Roland Mouret dress, and a huge pair of dark sunglasses as she held her signature stiff pose on the red carpet.

For once, all eyes were on the two sporting stars as they enjoyed the spotlight at the annual sports awards event which was hosted by singer Justin Timberlake.

Ronaldo is in the midst of controversy over a move from the football club to Spanish giants Real Madrid, where Beckham also famously played.

But while the controversy rages on, he has been enjoying himself in Los Angeles.

Yesterday Mail Online exclusively revealed how the football superstar turned down Paris Hilton after she made a play for him at a Hollywood nightclub.

Beckham, who now lives in LA, and plays for Los Angeles based team LA Galaxy received an award, and later was seen backstage being towered over by basketball player Candace Parker.

Host with the most: Justin Timberlake hosted the show, and donned a variety of disguises

A source said: ‘Paris was all over him. The moment he arrived, she went over to his private table.

‘But Ronaldo clearly wasn’t interested in Paris. He turned his back on her.’

The 23-year-old Portugese star is a single man after splitting from model Nereida Gallardo, 25.

Beckham recently hailed Ronaldo’s impact last season. He has said: ‘I would give the Golden Ball (world player of the year) award to Cristiano Ronaldo. He has been incredible this year.’

And he told Sky Sports: ‘When I left Manchester United the only other club I wanted to play for was Real Madrid.

‘Living in Madrid and playing for Madrid – there’s not many better clubs than that apart from Manchester United, which is equal.

‘But to have those two choices is good for him.’

He added: ‘Playing for Manchester United was my dream but so was playing for Real.

‘It was an incredibly difficult choice to make and I’m sure it is the same for Cristiano.’
